Welcome to RF Jäckle Arts and Minerals
Thank you for taking the time to look at my web site.
If you end up buying art or you just browse through the many pictures and or my poetry,
I am happy to have added something to your world.
Looking at the art, you'll see that my main interest is minerals from Southern Africa, though I also
paint specimens from other localities, especially when I get a request.
The reason is that someday I want to publish a book on Southern African Minerals
where all the images in the book will be painted images.
Therefore I'm really happy when aesthetic specimens come along to be painted.
In case you wondered, all the specimens painted, do exist and they do so mainly
in South African and Namibian private collections and museums.
The specimens aren't for sale but the paintings are. The paintings are mostly radical enlargements of the specimens
so you'll get a lot more visual satisfaction from the art.
In my own art collection I have a few paintings of specimens that aren't in my personal mineral collection.
However I won't let my ego rob me of the pleasure of constantly enjoying
a painting of the specimen just because it doesn't belong to me.
In fact, seeing a painting like that on a daily basis, I often forget that I don't own the specimen.
With my own specimens I also often prefer the painting of it, because it's a lot bigger
and it has the perfect lighting conditions for the real enjoyment of the piece's aesthetics.
My own art collection???
Yes, you saw right and I must confess, I also like my own art.
So what's wrong with that? After all, that is also why I paint.
Some are in my collection purely for sentimental reasons, others were just simply much too time consuming to complete,
which would result in higher prices than those charged for my other paintings.
Therefore if you see a painting that's marked as "not available", but you really like it a lot, please enquire.
The painting may be in my personal collection, or it may be sold.
Or maybe there's something similar that I felt like painting in any case, in which case your luck is in.
The prices I charge for my art are based on a surface area system (as is common practice with other artists).
Then I also made some of my earlier works cheaper as they might be pretty,
but from a technical viewpoint aren't as advanced as the newer ones.
I really try to be reasonable with my pricing, but it must be considered that my materials aren't cheap
and you're looking at a price that has to pay for some experience and a lot of time spent on an individual artwork.
So, whether you buy art or just look at it or look at the specimens depicted,
you're always welcome to browse around this site.
If you have a specimen that you might want to have painted,
please contact me.
I would be delighted to be able to paint a new "face".
Best regards,
Rainer F. Jäckle
